Clarins is one of the world’s leading skin care, cosmetics and perfume manufacturers. In 2021, Clarins will launch its Direct to Customer digital strategy in the Nordics, launching three websites, with three languages and three currencies across Sweden, Denmark and Norway, allowing Nordic consumers to purchase products directly from Clarins for the first time.

Clarins has engaged Safemind to find two key individuals to enable the launch of this new e-commerce business.

Given the significant challenge this represents, both individuals will require relevant knowledge and experience as well as a driven and entrepreneurial mindset. The right candidates will have a sophisticated understanding of e-commerce in the Nordics, how to engage consumers online and how to drive business across multiple digital channels.

About the role

Clarins wishes to find an E-Commerce Manager and Digital Acquisition Manager to be “on the ground” and drive the digital business across the region. Preparation for the launch is already underway and these two individuals will join forces with Clarins Brand Marketing, Social Media, Digital and Export teams in Geneva.

The focus for the E-Commerce Manager will be to take ownership of all aspects of the new websites in terms of build, testing, launch and ongoing management including animation plans, email marketing, customer care and reporting. Starting in early 2021, you will be a key figure during the preparation phase leading up to the launch of the three websites, ensuring all content is accurate, localised and translated correctly. You will be a central point of contact for local agencies and also critical to the ongoing running of the new business.

Your responsibilities

You will manage 3 websites which will include:

  • Defining and implementing processes to ensure all website updates are fully tested and launched on time and budget; ensuring all content / information on the sites is 100% accurate and updated
  • Ensuring sites are remerchandised regularly using sales metrics and marketing campaigns
  • Creating and merchandising new products
  • Liaising with local agencies to create new web pages for product launches and new campaigns

You will look after website animation and email marketing:

  • Defining locally relevant animation plans (promotions, emails, special offers, etc)
  • Managing a translation agency in the writing/ editing copy for all website content
  • Ensuring the promotional calendar is kept updated and shared with the relevant parties
  • Defining and managing the email contact plan
  • Overseeing email production with external agencies
  • Reporting weekly / monthly on email performance

You will own Customer Care in the Nordic region, including:

  • Providing answers to customer emails received via the Customer Care email address
  • Understanding and rectifying website issues to ensure the best customer experience and user journey
  • You will also provide regular reporting back to Clarins Management, including:
  • Regularly reviewing, analysing and reporting on sales and site performance to identify areas for future growth; proposing strategic functional and content recommendations
  • Working closely with Clarins Management on budget forecasting and targets
  • Monitoring competitor activity on a regular basis

About you

To succeed in this role you will have extensive e-commerce management experience in the Nordics, ideally having been involved in the launch of a Direct to Customer digital business before, ideally covering Sweden, Norway and Denmark. As a person you are energised by a challenge, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a high level of self-motivation. You will be versatile, analytical and equally happy to involve yourself in strategic as well as operational activities as the role evolves.

It would be helpful to have an appreciation of digital customer acquisition methods and tools, including an understanding of:

  • Google Analytics, SEA, SEO, Instagram, Facebook
  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Adobe Campaign highly desirable
  • Social media and 360° brand platforms
  • Previous experience working with fashion brands, cosmetics or beauty would be useful, however e-commerce and digital experience from other sectors may be relevant too
  • You will be customer centric, service oriented, and empathetic (for customer care)
  • You will be comfortable working autonomously with regular reporting to and direction from colleagues in Geneva or Paris
  • You will speak English and Swedish fluently. Other Nordic languages are highly beneficial
