About the role

Qbtech is now looking for a Director of Engineering to join their tech leadership team in central Stockholm. In this role you will lead the work of creating Qbtech’s next generation cloud platform, powering both existing and new products for measuring ADHD symptoms.

As Director of Engineering you will manage a team of engineers and work closely with Product Managers and the CTO translating business requirements into technical stories that go into the agile development process. You will be responsible for all aspects of the team in terms of planning, developing, testing and documenting systems/services. As Qbtech is growing you will also drive the recruitment of new colleagues together with the CTO.

The current Qbtech platform is built on top of AWS with most services using the Grails framework (code being a mix of Java & Groovy). Services are deployed as containers, running on top of ECS (Fargate). While maintaining the existing platform is very important, the majority of work will go into creating the next generation platform from the ground up. This journey has just started in terms of domain modeling and ironing out a few core services (user access and identity management, test generator service etc.). One part of architecting the platform is deciding what to build and what to buy (e.g. managed services). For cases of build, Qbtech have continued to rely on JVM-based services but now implemented using 100% Kotlin (within the Spring Boot framework).

Who are you?

You have several years of experience managing engineering teams and have the skills and ability to motivate and drive teams to reach the set-out goals for different projects within your domain. We’re looking for someone with a holistic mindset, being able to drive both technical excellence as well as providing mentorship for team members. You are a curious problem solver and used to breaking down organizational goals into something that the team can understand and run with.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience from leading roles in software engineering organizations and projects
  • Have the ability to build, grow, and maintain strong engineering teams
  • Proven record of designing and implementing technical architecture
  • Extensive experience with backend development, primarily using Java. You have expert knowledge in Spring framework (incl. Spring MVC / Webflux & Spring Boot).
  • Extensive experience with web services on AWS, which means that you’ve worked with technologies for making things work at scale (containers, CDN, event driven architectures).
  • Solid knowledge on Internet security topics like identity and access management and firewalls, and also good overall knowledge about common network protocols (HTTP, TLS)
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent background
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have:

  • At least one other high-level language like Kotlin or Go
  • Grails framework
  • Experience from Medtech, consumer health products or other regulated markets

What can we offer you?

At Qbtech you will have the opportunity to work with something meaningful that helps people understand ADHD while transforming healthcare. You will work in an international environment together with some of the leading experts in the world. You will lead the development of best in class as well as first in class products and services – globally. There are plenty of opportunities to learn and grow and to expand into other technologies within the company. Qbtech also offers education and certifications in fields that are relevant to the technology used within the company.
