VP Technical Operations

Viaplay is constantly delivering events to millions of viewers across multiple countries, with content ranging from Premier League matches to F1 races—all simultaneously and in multiple languages. As VP Technical Operations, you and your team will ensure a seamless, uninterrupted service.Your mission will be to build and optimize systems that proactively minimize incidents, optimize our streaming delivery, and ensure the team is prepared for any challenges that may arise. You’ll work closely with your TOC-team as well as to drive operational excellence and successful implementation of changes.

You’ll contribute both strategically and hands-on, leveraging your expertise in technical operations, development, and DevOps. Our team operates 24/7, with a focus on meeting rigorous SLAs and delivering uninterrupted viewer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and mentor your team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Review current processes and solutions and identify areas for change to optimize performance, scalability, and incident response.
  • Act as a bridge between the engineering teams and technical operations, ensuring effective communication, knowledge sharing, and alignment on priorities.
  • Oversee SLA fulfillment and ensure a seamless, uninterrupted viewing experience for all customers, regardless of the service load.
  • Foster a proactive approach to incident management, ensuring that systems are in place to prevent issues before they occur.

Who We Are Looking For

We’re seeking an empathetic and empowering leader with a proven track record of driving change in high-performance environments. You have extensive experience operating transaction-heavy, consumer-facing services, and understand the connection between development and operations.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, develop, and guide teams through change.
  • Significant experience in B2C SaaS operations with a large user base, preferably in live service environments.
  • Deep knowledge of DevOps, SRE, observability, and live operations best practices.
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies (a plus).
  • Hands-on experience in software development 
  • Experience with stakeholder management in a demanding environment. 
  • A customer-centric mindset and a pragmatic approach to process improvement.
  • A collaborative spirit, eager to share knowledge and expertise across teams and departments.
