About the role 

We are looking for a Senior PHP developer with a strong technical background and a strong set of soft skills to join our fantastic R&D department. In this role, you will work as part of a cross-functional team with a focus on backend development.

This role requires deep expertise in pure PHP to help build and maintain complex backend systems. This is not your typical web development role—it is focused purely on backend architecture, performance optimization, and scalable solutions for a complex product with a lot of moving parts and complex multi-layered business logic.

About the Role

As the Engineering Director, you will lead the engineering function within a key product area, working closely with the Product Director and reporting directly to the CTO. Together, you will shape the roadmap and ensure delivery is aligned with the company’s wider strategy.

You will oversee multiple multidisciplinary delivery teams, each coordinated on a day-to-day basis by a Delivery Lead. As the next level of growth, Mölnlycke Health Care is adding new digital solutions to its offerings in the form of a digital service ecosystem, aimed at optimising the critical work inside operating rooms. The goal is to enable digital assistance that prioritises patients, streamlines procedures, and makes health care professionals thrive at work. The new digital solution is part of R&D and is now in an exiting phase of recruiting a Tech Lead.

The role

As Tech Lead, you will take technical ownership of the development of new digital services. This is an impactful role which includes collecting and translating customer needs into requirements, generating ideas, identifying solution designs, conducting early technical feasibility studies, defining detailed solutions with external development partners, collecting evidence of design control and value creation. The role will also manage the product lifecycle after launch in areas such as scope extension, geographical expansion, and design optimisation. You will also be hands-on with development, create proof-of-concepts, and play a key role in DevOps and security work.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the development of digital solutions within ORS, both strategically and operationally.
  • Ensure solutions are built on a modern, scalable, and event-driven architecture.
  • Support and coordinate multiple suppliers and partners in software development, DevOps, and technical decision-making.
  • Contribute directly to the development of solutions and proof-of-concepts.
  • Manage technical documentation, system design, and architectural decisions.
  • Evaluate new technologies and potential new collaborations.
  • Work together with architects to ensure solutions align with company standards.

About you

We believe you have broad experience in the technical field and a record of product development from an architectural and engineering perspective. Knowing what adds value to the end customer while taking business into account is a valuable trait.

In short, you should have the following or equivalent:

  • A university degree in engineering or computer science.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leading software development role.
  • Strong full-stack development skills, including .NET, Azure and IAC and frontend frameworks like Vue, Angular or React
  • Experience with event-driven architecture (e.g., EventHub, Kafka) and API management.
  • Experience with identity and access management, such as Azure B2C / Entra ID.
