This is not a typical senior engineering role*

Most fintech companies build software. We’re building the infrastructure for how capital moves to SMEs across Europe.

Backed by the European Investment Bank, and already processing tens of thousands of invoices annually, we have strong traction with banks, funds, and enterprise clients. The commercial foundation is already in place. Now we’re scaling the technology platform to match the ambition.

Our ambition is to define a category in Europe – with high engineering leverage and short ways to decisions. We optimize for fast decisions, high ownership, and minimal organizational overhead.

We believe Europe’s SMEs are underserved by traditional capital markets – and we’re building the infrastructure to change that.

The role

You’ll join as a core technical builder partnering directly with the CTO, co-owning architecture, translating strategy into scalable systems, and shipping production-ready solutions that drive real product outcomes.

We build AI-first. Modern tooling and AI-driven workflows are embedded into how the team operates day to day. This is a high-ownership role where you’ll have real say in how things get built, not just what gets built.

You will:

  • Own and drive implementation of core parts of the platform, aligned with the technical direction
  • Build systems that handle financial data, transactions, and decision flows at scale
  • Translate product and business needs into robust, scalable architecture and code
  • Operate across backend, infrastructure, and integrations with high autonomy in execution
  • Work in an AI-native development environment, using modern tools to increase speed, quality, and output
  • Contribute to architectural decisions together with the CTO

We put strong emphasis on clarity in ownership and decision-making. It enables speed, trust, and high-quality execution across the team.

What we’re looking for

We’re not looking for a task executor. We’re looking for a builder with strong technical judgment and high ownership.

You likely:

  • Have 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Have built or contributed to scalable systems or platforms
  • Think in systems, trade-offs, and long-term architecture
  • Are comfortable moving between code, product, and technical strategy
  • Thrive in a small, high-performing team with high autonomy
  • Comfortable working in an AI-augmented development environment

Strong plus if you:

  • Have experience from startups or scaleups
  • Have experience with fintech, data-heavy systems, or decision engines
  • Have built API-driven platforms and integrations
  • Understand event-driven or distributed systems

Tech environment

  • Stack: Python, Node.js / TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL
  • Infrastructure: AWS, cloud-native, APIs, event-driven systems
  • Integrations: ERP systems, payment flows, credit data providers

We care more about how you think and build rather than specific tools you have used in the past. Adapting to new tools is a mindset to become more efficient.

What you get

  • A high-impact role with real ownership from day one
  • Direct collaboration with CTO, CEO, and leadership team
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and long-term upside
  • The opportunity to build a modern, AI-native fintech platform

* Why this role is different

Most roles give you ownership without direction, or direction without ownership. This one gives you both: clear strategic and technical direction, high ownership in execution. You will get a key seat in a small, highly capable team where every decision matters.

For the right person, this role grows with the company. As Invoier scales, there is a chance to step into broader technical leadership.

About Extenda Retail

Extenda Retail is a global leader and trusted partner to leading retailers and logistics companies, delivering software that connects warehouse operations, stores, and digital channels into one integrated and efficient flow. Our solutions enable a seamless retail experience across the entire value chain, from warehouse to checkout.

About KLAR Partners

KLAR is a Northern European private equity firm (~€2bn AUM) investing in business services and industrial technology across the Nordics, DACH, Benelux, and the UK. We own and operate 10+ portfolio companies with over 10,000 employees combined.

Each runs on its own combination of ERPs, CRMs, field-service tools, and accounting systems, and each has workflows where the right piece of software would meaningfully impact how the business operates and how it performs financially. This role exists to find those workflows and build for them – backend, integrations, and AI where it earns its place.

The role

This is a key technical hire into KLAR’s Catalyst Team (KCT), KLAR’s value-creation team working hands-on inside portfolio companies on 4-8 week implementation sprints. As such, you will play a key role in defining the technical foundation: the stack, architecture, and engineering patterns that future deployments will build on.

What you will do

You will work hands-on inside portfolio companies with existing infrastructure, such as ERPs, CRMs, field service tools, and accounting systems, and build production software on top of them. The work spans backend development, systems integration, AI/LLM deployment, workflow automation, and cloud infrastructure.

You will work in focused 4-8 week sprints, shipping real software into production at the end of each engagement. This is a hands-on role with regular on-site work alongside teams across Northern Europe.

Day to day, this means:

  • Work inside portfolio companies to understand workflows, then ship software that improves them
  • Architect and build APIs and backend services that can integrate AI models to business systems
  • Integrate with enterprise software such as SAP, Dynamics, Salesforce, and custom or legacy tools.
  • Deploy LLM-based applications into production, such as RAG pipelines, agents, and copilots
  • Automate manual workflows end-to-end, including document processing, classification, and elimination of data entry
  • Set up and manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and containerisation
  • Turn prototypes into reliable production systems with proper error handling, logging, and monitoring
  • Build internal tools and interfaces

What we are looking for

You have 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software, and a track record of delivering AI-powered features or products in real-world environments. Above all, you’ve owned production software end-to-end: built it, shipped it, and operated it long enough to know what production actually demands.

You’ve worked at the intersection of AI capabilities and business needs, and you’re comfortable being the only technical person in a room of non-technical operators. You can navigate imperfect systems and undocumented APIs, push back when the requirement is wrong, and ship pragmatically when it is right. You know how to turn messy problems into software that actually gets used. You find lifting performance in a real operating business as interesting as the technology that does it.

Python is the primary language, but strong engineering judgement and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving matter more than stack preferences. You’re comfortable across cloud environments like AWS or Azure, and you adapt your architecture and tooling to fit the situation.

Technical requirements

  • Strong Python skills and comfort with at least one other backend language
  • Experience designing, building, and deploying production APIs
  • Solid SQL and database design skills
  • Experience integrating with enterprise systems (ERPs, CRMs, or similar)
  • Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, Docker, and IaC fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (VPNs, firewalls, on-prem to cloud connectivity)
  • Experience with LLMs and AI tooling, including prompt engineering, RAG, and agents

Nice to have:

  • Background in forward-deployed engineering, technical consulting, or early-stage B2B startups
  • Experience in the PE/VC industry, or a strong interest in applying AI to private equity and business development
  • Exposure to industrial, field services, or business services environments
  • TypeScript/frontend basics
  • Experience working directly with non-technical end-users

What we offer

  • Shape a new function from the ground up inside a fast-growing PE firm with ~€2bn AUM
  • Direct, measurable impact: the things you build show up in financial results
  • Variety: no two portfolio companies are the same – field services, industrial technology, and business services, across different countries and systems
  • A small, senior, and agile team with no bureaucratic overhead and big ambitions
  • Competitive compensation with upside tied to portfolio value creation

About the company

A Stockholm-based fintech startup is building the future of personal finance — a banking app that combines smart money management with AI-driven insights. Their iOS app is the primary product: it’s what users see, touch, and trust every day. They’re a small, senior-leaning team where every engineer has real ownership and real impact. This is a startup with big ambitions and an entrepreneurial spirit — you’re here to help build something that matters for the long run. The team is growing and they’re looking for people who want to take ownership of what they’re building and grow together with the team.

The role

The team needs an iOS engineer who is genuinely strong in Swift and takes pride in writing native, performant, polished mobile apps. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to wrap a web view and call it done — they care deeply about the iOS platform and so should you. You’ll own large parts of the app: features from concept to App Store. You’ll also work closely with their backend engineers to design APIs that make sense for mobile consumption. If you know Android and Swift — wonderful. They have an early Android app that needs someone to take it forward, and leading that expansion would be a huge plus.

What you’ll work on

  • Core iOS app built in Swift — account overview, transactions, budgeting, notifications
  • New features from design spec to shipped release
  • The data layer — offline-first, not a thin API wrapper
  • Migrating off legacy Firebase flows as the backend moves to the new stack
  • Performance, accessibility, and reliability of the mobile experience
  • API design collaboration with backend — you’ll have opinions, and they want them
  • Building out the early Android app — if you have the appetite

About you

We see that you have:

  • Ownership mindset — you take features end-to-end and care how they land
  • Care about craft — animations, transitions, and responsiveness matter to you
  • Good instincts for mobile UX: you notice when something feels off, and you fix it
  • Strong Swift — idiomatic, modern Swift concurrency, SwiftUI
  • Experience shipping iOS apps to the App Store — real users, real constraints
  • Comfortable close to the metal: memory, threading, performance

It would also be nice if you have:

  • Interested in fintech or AI — you find the problem space genuinely interesting
  • Kotlin / Android experience — even partial, the team would build on it
  • Experience with banking or finance apps — open banking APIs, PSD2, account aggregation
  • Familiarity with on-device AI (Apple Intelligence, Core ML) — or strong opinions about where it’s going
  • Fluent with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) — and you’ve shipped real code without them too
  • Some backend exposure — enough to debug an API response yourself

To thrive in the team you are:

  • Senior, or junior going on senior
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — you’d rather own a feature end-to-end than wait for a PM to spec everything out
  • Want to grow with the team and the product over the long run

What the team offers

Your work is the product — the iOS app is what users open every day
Room to do iOS properly — craft, performance, and platform nuance matter here
Small team, fast feedback loop, direct line to product decisions
Stockholm-based, hybrid — real human contact, flexible about the rest
Founding engineer equity

About the company

A Stockholm-based fintech startup is building the future of personal finance — a banking app that combines smart money management with AI-driven insights.

The role

This is a founding-engineer position. That means you’ll be part of a small team shaping the codebase, the culture, and how the team builds. You’ll work across the backend and wherever else the product needs you, which could be tooling, internal systems, data pipelines, or API integrations. You don’t need to be a specialist in any one area, but you (or your best AI friend) need to be genuinely strong at writing correct, maintainable server-side code.

What you’ll work on

  • Core backend services powering the app — account data, transactions, notifications, user state
  • REST and event-driven APIs consumed by the iOS app (and whatever comes next)
  • Third-party integrations: banking rails, open banking APIs, data providers
  • Rebuilding the backend — moving off legacy services onto the new Node stack
  • Internal tooling, monitoring, and reliability improvements
  • Contribute to technical decisions: architecture, dependencies, process
  • Work with TypeScript/Node.js on the backend side

About you

We see that you have:

  • Ownership mindset — you take responsibility for what you build and see it through
  • Product-thinking over ticket-execution — you care about why something is being built, not just what
  • Good judgment: you know when to move fast and when to slow down and do it right
  • Strong Node.js / TypeScript — you know the runtime, you don’t just know the syntax
  • Backend fundamentals: databases (PostgreSQL or similar), REST APIs, auth, async patterns
  • Experience with production systems — you’ve shipped things that real users depend on

It would also be nice if you have:

  • Curiosity about banking and money — not just as a domain but as a problem worth solving
  • Exposure to fintech, banking, or regulated industries
  • Experience with job queues or async workflows (BullMQ, SQS, or similar)
  • Some frontend or mobile knowledge — enough to collaborate effectively
  • Fluent with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) — and you’ve shipped real code without them too

To thrive in the team you are:

  • Senior, or junior going on senior
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — you can figure out what ”done” looks like
  • Want to grow with the team and the product over the long run

What the team offers

Real ownership — you shape the codebase and the culture, not just work in them
Small team, direct line to product and architecture decisions
Flexible hours, sane pace — they build for the long run
Stockholm-based, hybrid — they value face time but don’t micromanage

  • A globally distributed team with strong engineering presence in Greece, and leadership across Europe and India
  • A product landscape transitioning from legacy to modern platform architecture
  • A company culture that is modern and engineering-driven, now evolving to meet the expectations of a larger industrial owner

This means you’ll need to navigate:

  • Agility vs structure
  • Speed vs predictability
  • Innovation vs compliance

Who you are

You are a builder and a pragmatic leader.

You know how to create structure without slowing things down—and you’re not afraid to challenge teams when needed.

You likely bring:

  • Experience leading engineering organizations of 30+ people
  • A strong technical background (ideally Java-based environments, cloud, DevOps, distributed systems)
  • Experience from B2B or enterprise software
  • A track record of scaling teams and improving delivery in complex environments
  • Comfort working across geographies and cultures

It’s a big plus if you have experience in:

  • Security and preferably Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • AI/ML-driven development or AI-assisted engineering workflows

Just as importantly, you are:

  • Pragmatic and execution-focused
  • Comfortable holding teams accountable
  • Able to navigate between different stakeholders, cultures, and expectations
  • A leader who brings both structure and momentum

Why this role

This is a rare opportunity to:

  • Build something from the ground up in Stockholm while leading an existing international team
  • Operate in a space where data, security, and AI meet real-world, mission-critical use cases
  • Be part of a company that combines startup DNA with the backing of a global industrial group
  • Have real impact on how engineering is structured, how teams work, and how products are delivered

Practical details

  • Location: Stockholm (with international collaboration and some travel, primarily to Greece and Italy)
  • Hybrid setup with strong emphasis on leadership presence
  • English is the working language

If you’re motivated by building, scaling, and bringing structure to complexity—this is a role where you can have real impact.
