Data Engineer

About the Role

As a Data Engineer at AFRY, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing their data infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on building and maintaining robust data platforms using the latest Microsoft technologies, with a particular emphasis on Microsoft Fabric and Azure. Together with a team of four, you will be part of a transformation at AFRY moving from traditional data warehousing to a data mesh concept. We strongly believe that our data foundation and governance is key for us to succeed in the era of AI.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines, frameworks, and architectures
• Implement and manage data storage solutions, including data lakes and lakehouses
• Troubleshoot and optimize data systems for performance and reliability 
• Collaborate closely with teams in different data domains to deliver data as a product tailored for use cases ranging from BI and data science to AI

About You

We are looking for someone with experience of data engineering on the Microsoft stack. You can see both details and have a holistic perspective on the solutions you and your team are working on. Also, you have a genuine interest in problem-solving and are an outcome-oriented problem-solver.

Desired skills:

• You have a documented history of working with modern data platforms
• You possess a technical mindset with a focus on development and problem-solving
• You have experience in enabling data analytics for other professionals
• You know SQL and have experience using Spark and notebooks
• You have experience with tools like Azure Data Factory or similar
• You have experience of lakehouse technology, specifically delta lake
