About the Role
As Engineering Director, Platform, you’ll lead the engineering function within a key product area, reporting directly to the CTO and working closely with the Product Director. Together, you’ll shape the roadmap, define strategy, and ensure delivery excellence aligned with Quinyx’s vision.
You’ll oversee multiple multidisciplinary delivery teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, QA, and Designers, focusing on driving engineering excellence and platform scalability. Managing and mentoring 25-35 engineers across teams and locations, you’ll foster collaboration, cohesion, and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the R&D Senior Management Team (SMT), helping shape and review product proposals to align with company-wide goals.
- Lead platform engineering strategy, ensuring speed, security, and robustness across infrastructure and product delivery.
- Own infrastructure design, scalability, reliability, and security, with strong cost control and performance optimization of cloud resources.
- Define and implement best practices, KPIs, and procedural strategies for cross-team efficiency and high-quality output.
- Collaborate with other Engineering Directors to plan resources, resolve technical challenges, and align on organizational priorities.
- Manage budgeting, resourcing, and strategic planning for a 25-person department of Architects, Backend, DevOps, and QA engineers across multiple offices.
- Partner with the Commercial and M&A teams on acquisition activities, including technical due diligence, compliance, and integration planning.
Core Competencies
- Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to engage across all organizational levels.
- Former hands-on Platform Engineer (DevOps or SRE background preferred).
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing multiple teams and senior engineers.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance short-term delivery and long-term vision.
- Creative and innovative — leveraging emerging technologies and best practices to improve processes.
- Strong judgment, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to align departmental goals with company strategy and ensure measurable success through KPIs.
