About the company
A Stockholm-based fintech startup is building the future of personal finance — a banking app that combines smart money management with AI-driven insights. Their iOS app is the primary product: it’s what users see, touch, and trust every day. They’re a small, senior-leaning team where every engineer has real ownership and real impact. This is a startup with big ambitions and an entrepreneurial spirit — you’re here to help build something that matters for the long run. The team is growing and they’re looking for people who want to take ownership of what they’re building and grow together with the team.
The role
The team needs an iOS engineer who is genuinely strong in Swift and takes pride in writing native, performant, polished mobile apps. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to wrap a web view and call it done — they care deeply about the iOS platform and so should you. You’ll own large parts of the app: features from concept to App Store. You’ll also work closely with their backend engineers to design APIs that make sense for mobile consumption. If you know Android and Swift — wonderful. They have an early Android app that needs someone to take it forward, and leading that expansion would be a huge plus.
What you’ll work on
- Core iOS app built in Swift — account overview, transactions, budgeting, notifications
- New features from design spec to shipped release
- The data layer — offline-first, not a thin API wrapper
- Migrating off legacy Firebase flows as the backend moves to the new stack
- Performance, accessibility, and reliability of the mobile experience
- API design collaboration with backend — you’ll have opinions, and they want them
- Building out the early Android app — if you have the appetite
About you
We see that you have:
- Ownership mindset — you take features end-to-end and care how they land
- Care about craft — animations, transitions, and responsiveness matter to you
- Good instincts for mobile UX: you notice when something feels off, and you fix it
- Strong Swift — idiomatic, modern Swift concurrency, SwiftUI
- Experience shipping iOS apps to the App Store — real users, real constraints
- Comfortable close to the metal: memory, threading, performance
It would also be nice if you have:
- Interested in fintech or AI — you find the problem space genuinely interesting
- Kotlin / Android experience — even partial, the team would build on it
- Experience with banking or finance apps — open banking APIs, PSD2, account aggregation
- Familiarity with on-device AI (Apple Intelligence, Core ML) — or strong opinions about where it’s going
- Fluent with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) — and you’ve shipped real code without them too
- Some backend exposure — enough to debug an API response yourself
To thrive in the team you are:
- Senior, or junior going on senior
- Comfortable with ambiguity — you’d rather own a feature end-to-end than wait for a PM to spec everything out
- Want to grow with the team and the product over the long run
