We are on an exciting growth journey and we’re now looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join us.

About the role

You’ll join our data team that develops InsightsHub and Statistics, our customer-facing analytics products; Larix, our model for flagging who’s at risk of long-term sick leave; and the data platform underneath.

We use agentic coding tools heavily, and expect how we build to keep changing. We care less about which tools you use today than whether you’re willing to keep changing how you work.

Larix, and how we run models in production generally, is at the centre of this role. We’re a small shop, so things move fast and what you build shapes the product rather than a corner of it.

What we’re recruiting for

• Larix, our long-term sick leave risk model: retraining, serving and monitoring it in production, plus features, evaluation, performance and making it work in new markets.
• How we run models in production generally – serving, evaluation and monitoring.

What the team owns and you’ll work across

• InsightsHub, our LLM-based analytics product: the data model and pipelines underneath, and the generation on top.
• The transformation layer: dbt, warehouse, orchestration.
• Product and usage data, with a focus on making it self-serve.
• Proving what the product does to sickness absence, in a way that holds up with customers and leadership.

Who we think you are

• You write Python and SQL that other people can maintain.
• You’ve looked after a model in production over time, not just built one and moved on.
• You’ve automated a training or deployment pipeline, or you’re keen to.
• You can design an evaluation that survives scrutiny, and you know the difference between correlation, prediction, and causal effect.
• You’ve worked with dbt or equivalent and an orchestrator like Airflow, Prefect or Dagster.
• You can explain what the numbers mean to someone who isn’t technical.
• We’re open to a few years of experience and up. The right person matters more than years of experience.

Nice to have

• Taking a model to a new market or population.
• Evaluating LLM or AI output in production.
• Experience with privacy and sensitive personal data.
• Domain background in HR, occupational health, insurance, or healthcare.
